HARARE: The Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe has exhibited at the 11-day 2014 edition of the Harare Agricultural Show whose theme was ‘sustaining and transforming agricultural growth.”
Official opening was done by H.E President Mugabe on 22 August 2014.
The RPAZ stand was this year located in a different hall: Home Industries as the Events Committee felt that the previous location in the Garden Club was too isolated from the public. Expectations were that this year RPAZ would see more traffic through its stand and this was slightly realized. Generally this year’s show was poorly attended by the public due to financial constraints. However there was an increase of 4% in the number of people visiting the RPAZ stand from last year’s 254. A total of 482 people passed through the stand during the 11- day event.
Major issues raised by visitors had to do with the following:
- Lack of visibility of the organization and what it does.
- Whether household gadgets like micro wave ovens, cell phones, laptops emit radiation?
- Whether we are also coordinating our activities with other agencies in an effort to disseminate information about radiation to the people?
