HARARE: The media plays a key role in education and information dissemination hence the Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) has decided to explore areas of further possible cooperation with the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ), RPAZ Board Chairman, Dr Ntokozo Ndlovu has said.
Speaking at a ceremony to unveil a $5 000 sponsorship package for a Zimbabwean journalist who champions radiation safety and cancer awareness issues, Dr Ndlovu said the sponsorship will be awarded by RPAZ within the framework of the National Journalistic Annual Media Awards organised by ZUJ.
The sponsorship package unveiling ceremony also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between RPAZ and ZUJ. RPAZ Board Chairman Dr Ndlovu signed on behalf of the Authority while ZUJ was represented by its Secretary General Mr Foster Dongozi.
Earlier in the week, RPAZ hosted a media workshop entitled, “The role of the media in cancer prevention: A Radiation Protection Perspective.”
ZUJ members, RPAZ staff, and stakeholders in cancer management attended both events.
