VISITING IAEA DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON RPAZ OFFICES

HARARE: Visiting International Atomic Energy Agency Deputy Director General and Head of Technical Cooperation, Mr Kwaku Aning has praised the Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe [RPAZ] management and staff for ensuring the continued success of the regulatory body with IAEA terming RPAZ “a centre of excellence.”
Mr Aning said this has also resulted in the IAEA using the RPAZ as training ground for some upcoming regulatory bodies in Africa.
RPAZ has so far taken staff on fellowship from other upcoming regulatory bodies like Malawi and Lesotho.
The objective of Mr Aning’s two-day visit to Zimbabwe was to hold consultations with Senior Government Officials on strategic policy issues related to the IAEA Technical Cooperation programme between Zimbabwe and the IAEA.
Prior to paying a courtesy call on RPAZ, Mr Aning’s itinerary also included visits to the Secretary of Energy and Power Development, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Minister of Agriculture, Mechanization and Irrigation Development, Minister of Health and Childcare, UN Resident Coordinator, Parirenyatwa Hospital and RPAZ.
