VACANCIES

Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, mature, honest candidate for placement in the following post:

  1. Radiation Scientist (1 Post)

Responsibilities

  • Implements inspection program and maintains database of inspections.
  • Conducts inspections and compiles reports.
  • Provides inputs for budgetary requirements of the section.
  • Provides inputs for the establishment, promotion and implementation of regulations and regulatory guides.
  • Implements the plans and procedures for emergency preparedness and response Programs.
  • Contributes to the review and assessment of the authorization process and provides recommendations.
  • Carries out investigations in cases of breach of non-compliance.
  • Collaborates with enforcement officer on enforcement actions
  • Conducts radiation safety and awareness trainings at facilities.
  • Conducts research in radiation as per the Authority plans

Qualifications

B.SC Natural Sciences in an area relevant to radiation protection

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of radiation regulatory framework development and policy.
  • Experience in working with radiation safety standards boards.
  • Experience in international projects an asset, particularly in radiation safety.
  • Experience organizing and leading technical meetings, capacity building missions, and other expert and advisory missions.
  • Experience drafting and finalizing publication of relevant technical reports guidelines, manuals, publications and other resources.
  • Driver’s License a must.

Qualifications

BSC Radiography or Medical Physics

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the medical field
  • Registered medical practitioner in Zimbabwe.
  • Experience in radiation safety management at facility level.
  • Driver’s license a must.
