Vacancy Notice: Graduate Trainees – Radiation Scientists

Graduate Traineeship: Radiation Scientists

 

Graduates will follow a two-year training program that includes initial training across the complete range of the RPAZ’s technical capabilities in all of its key result areas. Trainees will receive on-site training and access to specialist training courses during the program.

Scope

  • Radiation Protection processes (Authorization, Inspection)
  • Radiation Physics and instrumentation
  • Safety and Health management programs and Quality Management systems
  • Radiation services systems (Dosimetry and NORM)
  • Computer modelling and data analysis including data base management
  • Any training local and international for competence building

Key duties

  1. Apply academic learning to the workplace environment
  2. Participate in project teams to achieve work outcomes
  3. Provide reports, analysis and research on relevant issues as directed by assigned supervisors
  4. Undertake professional and personal development to complement on job training.
  5. Carry out duties in accordance with RPAZ’s radiation safety,  environmental safety standards including  corporate values and strategies
  6. Any other roles as assigned by the line supervisor.

 

Requirements

  • University degree in natural/applied Sciences or radiography relevant qualification from a reputable institution.
  • Strong analytical and observation skills.

Accounts Clerk

Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe is looking for suitable candidates in the above mentioned field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Daily receipting
  2. Daily banking
  3. Bank reconciliations
  4. Maintaining and promoting excellent stakeholder relations
  5. Managing assets
  6. General record keeping.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of a Diploma in Accounting/Finance/Banking or equivalent
  2. 5 O’Levels including Maths and English
  3. Class 4 Driver’s Licence
  4. A minimum of 2 traceable references
  5. Computer literate
  6. Experience in handling cash is an added advantage.

Vacancy Notice : Radiation Protection Technicians

Vacancy Notice

Radiation Protection Technicians shall be graduates from Applied Science &Technology Programs from reputable institutions. This an entry level role and the candidate shall be responsible for Radiation Physics, instrumentation and Radiation Protection (Waste Management, Dosimetry and Environmental monitoring Services).

 

Responsibilities

  1. Selecting and setting up the required laboratory equipment for tests, experiments, and analyses.
  2. Conducting laboratory tests for qualitative and quantitative analyses of various substances and materials. (radiochemistry, environmental monitoring, waste management, radiation dosimetry and Radiation Physics Measurements).
  3. Provide reports, analysis and research on relevant issues as directed by assigned supervisors.
  4. Carry out duties in accordance with the Authority’s safety standards, values and strategies.
  5. Any other roles as assigned by the line supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of National Diploma in Applied Sciences or any other relevant qualification from a reputable institution.
  • Strong analytical and observation skills.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports.

Duration of Programme

-Successful candidates will undergo a 2 year training program in radiation protection related fields

Scope of training:

– Regulatory control of sources at Industrial facilities (density gauges, level gauges, moisture   gauges, NDT facilities, baggage scanners, industrial radiography)

– Regulatory control of sources at medical facilities (Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology facilities, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy)

– Public exposure control and Environmental Monitoring

– Radioactive Waste Management

– Radiation Transport Safety and Security

– Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) regulation

– Emergency Preparedness and Response-Nuclear Security (prevent, detection, response)

Academics and Professional Qualifications:

-Must have a degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology and Environmental Sciences

– Advanced computer literacy

– Verbal and written communication skills
